DIY: Harry Potter Stencil Shirt

I'm always looking for the perfect graphic tee. I love t-shirts with certain graphics but I can never find any affordable ones. Then I thought, why not make my own? So I decided to make a Harry Potter graphic t-shirt because I (like many others) am a Harry Potter fan.

Here's what you'll need:
Acrylic Paint or Fabric Paint
Paint Brushes or sponge
Plain t-shirt, tank, sweatshirt, hoodie, whatever you want
Thick paper
Utility Knife or Xacto Blade

First, find a graphic that you would like to put on a t-shirt. Make sure the graphic is easy enough to cut out and paint.

Trace the graphic on your paper and then use your utility knife to cut the shape. Whatever you cut out will be the part that shows the paint.

Lay your clothing item flat down. Make sure you pre-wash your clothing because the paint will stick to it better. Put the stencil on your clothing item and position it to your liking.

Stipple (basically blotting) the paint on the clothing item through the stencil. DO NOT spread the paint; it will not go onto your top evenly.

Let dry and take off the stencil.

And you're done!

Anyone excited to make some stencils now?

  1. That's a great idea for some unique clothing. Is it hard to cut out the stencil?(◕‿◕✿)

    1. It's very easy especially with a utility knife. The sharper the blade, the easier it will be. Just make sure that you have a cutting board or a thick stack of papers underneath whatever you are cutting.

I must compliment you on creating articles that are really creative.I just love your idea "DIY: Harry Potter Stencil Shirt" Seems so obvious when you've done it once, but not a thought that would have come to my mind, had I not read your blog.

I work with www.barcode91.com and we have some beautiful ethnic designs too. I think you would like them too :) and congratulations :)
